  • Buyer Beware: The Hidden Costs of a “Good Car”

When you buy a vehicle from a dealership, you put your trust in the promise that the car you’re driving away in is safe and reliable. Unfortunately, my experience showed me just how quickly that trust can be broken — and how expensive the fallout can be.

After only two days and with very minimal driving, my so-called “good car” turned into a nightmare.

Here’s exactly what happened:

Buyer Beware!
After having the vehicle 2 days minimal driving check engine light came on and diagnostic was bad catalytic converter. The dealer refused to help me in anyway after he told me it was a good car in the sale. If I want them to even look at it they would charge me. I have a 1,100 repair quoted to even get a Missouri pass inspection. Never doing business with them again.

What makes this situation so frustrating is the complete lack of accountability. The dealer confidently assured me at the point of sale that the car was in good condition. But when the truth came to light — that a major repair was needed almost immediately — they refused to take responsibility. Instead, I was told I’d have to pay them just to look at the car again.

In less than 48 hours, I was faced with an unexpected $1,100 repair bill, just to make the car road-legal. That’s not just inconvenient — it’s unacceptable.

The Takeaway

No one expects a used car to be perfect, but honesty from the seller is the bare minimum. When a dealer shrugs off major issues and leaves the buyer stuck with the bill, it shows exactly where their priorities lie.

I walked away from this experience with one clear conclusion: I’ll never do business with this dealership again. If you value your time, money, and peace of mind, I’d suggest you don’t either.
